Jack and Ella

Here's a video of when Ella first met Jack (don't worry, Julia makes a guest appearance). Rob had just brought Ella home from daycare, they put Jack out of sight (to make sure Jack didn't overshadow Ella) and had a 'reunion' with just Ella, her mom, and dad. Rob then asked Ella if she wanted to go downstairs and play or go see Jack. We all expected her to ignore Jack and just want to play with her dad... boy were we surprised when she wanted to see Jack and then didn't want to leave his side.

Officially Walking

On Sunday while at my sister's house Julia officially started walking. She hasn't 100% committed to walking yet and definitely is still quite wobbly, but I'm sure it won't be too long until she is running. She started walking just in time for her new baby cousin's arrival. Jack Philip Cederbaum who was born on Tuesday, March 30th at 3:21am and was 8 lbs and 15oz. We got to meet him today for the very first time. Julia was naughty and took his blanket from him, but then was nice enough to return the blanket almost trying to smother him.

Pictures to come soon....

Walking?

For weeks now Julia will take a couple of steps every few days and we keep thinking she will be walking anyday but she continues to seem content to just crawl. Today daddy and Julia made up a new 'walking' game with Julia taking 7 steps on her best round. Does this mean she will now be walking any day?

First Haircut

Julia had her first haircut yesterday, just a little trim so her hair isn't in her eyes and to try and combat the mullet that was starting to form. She didn't fuss or cry, but she was very serious and never smiled once during the haircut.

Florida Keys

At the beginning of March we went to John's cousin's wedding in Miami and then had a nice relaxing vacation with some of Julia's aunts, uncles, cousins and her nana in the Florida Keys.

Julia sound asleep after a hard day of partying in Miami.
Almost everyday in the Keys, Julia would take a few steps, we kept thinking she would start walking anyday, but she decided to keep us waiting.

Don't leave me behind!!

Sophia and Julia relaxing on the hammock. They may both look calm and relaxed, but this photo was taken just after Julia had a melt down because she was scared of walking or sitting on the grass and just before Sophia picked up Julia's toy giraffe and threw it in the canal. But don't worry the giraffe was recovered and Julia has gotten over her fear of the grass.

Enjoying Pina Colada's out of the dock.

Beautiful Hair

Julia actually has hair that is long enough for bows and a little bit of styling. Which style do you like best?

Standing

Julia officially stood on her own today. She occasionally has briefly stood before, but it was usually by accident and very brief. Two days ago (on her 13 month birthday) she also officially took her first step. It was to get from a chair to a coffee table, it was very small and she hasn't attempted it again, though now that she knows she can stand on her own I don't think it will be too much longer.

Standing like a Big Girl

She gets a lot of practice walking, cruising around our house on her walker.

One of Julia's new favorite toys from her birthday is her play 'cookie jar', you can tell from the video how much fun she has putting shapes into the jar.

Julia still isn't really 'talking', but is starting to get good at some of her baby signs. Her standards are waving bye-bye and signing 'all done'. She used to do the sign for 'more', but recently decided that the sign for 'all done' would combine and mean both 'all done' and 'more' and only she knew what she was signing. Needless to say that made it a little interesting for us to interpret.

She recently added on a few more signs including elephant, light, and occasionally fish. Why in the world she decided these were the next most important words in her vocabulary I have no idea. It seems like Mommy, Daddy, more, food, cat, or dog (all of which we say and sign all the time) would have been a little more useful. But now she loves to go all around the house and point out all the lights, while signing 'light'. Which ironically starts to look a lot like the sign for 'all done' once again. I guess she is thinking why learn all the hand movements when I could learn just one to mean everything!
